- TV in the 50′s had high radiation levels which have been adequately corrected to not cause harm today.

Watching Too Much TV Really Bad For Your Eyes
It is very unlikely that watching TV will cause damage to your eyes.
However, it will cause eyestrain which could lead to many other eye
related problems. Studies have found that children who played outside as
opposed to children who watched TV had better eye vision and did not
need corrective measures like glasses. Hence, sunlight could play an
important factor in early eye development.
